These pastelles are made with beef and pork. One of Trinidad’s seasonal delights, pastelles are a steamed cornmeal pie with a meat filling wrapped in banana leaves. Pastelles are normally enjoyed at Christmas time with friends and family.
They are very similar to Latin American tamales.
Pastelles are individually wrapped in foil. Our Trinidad Pastelles come in many different options including chicken and beef only.
The Pastelles need to be either frozen by you and kept for up to 6 months or kept in the fridge for up to 2 days. The best way to heat these up is place foil wrapped Pastelles in a steamer and steam for about 15 minutes. Do not remove foil before steaming. Pastelles can also be microwaved but make sure all foil is removed and the microwave for about 2 minutes for each one.
